In the Arnulfstraße at the corner to Zirkus Krone Straße you find one of the oldest and most popular beer garden of munich: the Augustiner Keller. You should not mix up the Augustiner Keller with the restaurant Augustiner in the Neuhauserstraße which is also a very traditional and recommended place in the shopping area of the city.
From the Hacker Brücke the Augustiner Keller is in easy walking distance. (If you visit a beer garden you should better get there by public transportation and leave the car were it is!)
This beer garden has a long tradition: it's popularity is based on the fact that you have had a very good view to the gallow hill on the other side of the road. The gallow was mounted there from 1780 to 1809. The last public death sentence was executed with a hatchet in 1861.
