In the opposite of the Glyptothek on the Königsplatz
Georg Friedrich Ziebland constructed the late-classicistic building in the years 1838 - 1848. Today this building is the
location of the state antique collection.
Originally an art exhibit and industrial exhibition was furnished
in the building. Later it served than house of the Munich Secession and from 1919 - 1939 as a "new state gallery".
In the gable is to be seen the Bavaria as a protector of the arts of Ludwig von Schwanthaler (about 1830).
The collection encloses beside a prominent vase collection of the mykenischen epoch till the Greek late time
also small plastics from bronze, ceramics and terracotta as well as golden jewellery and glass.
