Once one of the most modern public
bathing establishments, today the Müller'sches Volksbad (Müller's Public Baths) is still
unequalled in its Art Nouveau architecture. Since its renovation in 1985, the baths'
interior and exterior radiate the charm of this era again, making a visit well
worth-while.
For this jewel of a building, Munich is indebted to its citizen Karl Müller, who generously donated the bath to the less privileged inhabitants of the town.
The Public baths were built between 1897 and 1901 by Carl Hocheder. The decorum of those times dictated the separation of the sexes. Today the Men's Pool is equally accessible to women.
